Avast ultimate is a security software with an excellent detection rate and fantastic additional features. Its malware scanner scored 100 percent in my tests. Also, its web security blocked websites that offered phishing services that were able to get past Chrome’s and Firefox’s default security. Other features include a Rescue Disk and a secure browser for online shopping and banking. Advanced tracker blocking is also available.
The interface for users of the suite is simple to navigate. The main screen displays an array of icons that clearly describe the purpose of each tool. Avast’s color scheme is orange, white, and blue. It’s easy to read and pleasing to the eyes.
You can find detailed controls for each tool in the Explore menu. These include custom scans such as boot time scanning and an automatic updater. You can also save specific types of scans within the “Scan Center”, so you can run them again at a future date.
In addition to the more advanced features, Avast’s antivirus can stop ransomware attacks by monitoring your system for suspicious activity, and then encrypting all files that could have been targeted. It can identify trojan horses (malicious programs that disguise themselves as legitimate software that infiltrate your computer) and block them from running.
