When I first began trying to treat my ED using Vardenafil, it had been a little difficult for me to obtain an accurate dosage. I did not know how much of a dosage I needed to take or how frequently I could take it. I did not realize how much there was to it. Often our brains will interpret danger when there isn’t any in the present moment.

Our thoughts, feelings, and memories are not always our best friend and can lead to unnecessary distress.

Grounding can help us find these moments of calm

And so by the present be fed

These experiences of the present as benign can then make us feel more safe and solid

 

How do I get Grounded?

You can get grounded  in any of the following ways:

  • Use your senses of sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell to notice safe objects or have positive experiences of the present. See the photo and caption below for an example of using your senses to create a sense of calm.
  • Learn to develop slow and deep breathing as it helps tell your brain there is no current danger and allows your body to relax. Instructions for supportive breathing are included in my book.
  • We can also use our body awareness and movement to ground ourselves. Some activities that can be particularly helpful are walking, playing sport, or any physical activity that takes us out of constantly living in our head.
